Wave Collection
2020
Wave is a playful series of sculptural objects and totems made entirely out of repurposed wood and natural colouring by designer Kristel Laurits. The collection consists of 6 different elements- a side table, stool and 4 totem- bookends.
The collection takes reference from the poetic metaphor of wavelengths- something that connects us all, be it the wavelength of our heartbeats or the shifting wave of our common consciousness.The collection is an ode to our biggest teacher – nature.Therefore, the products are fully coloured and treated with alternative and natural dyes, from birch to old beetroots, red cabbages and blackberries.
Wave is a further exploration of joyful aesthetics and expression and can be considered as a link and continuation of Kristel’s previous work (Sol series and Condition X, presented in London and Milan Design Fairs in 2018 and 2019).The physical products are made in collaboration with Sydhavn Recycling Center- a center where start-ups have focus on recycling and bringing closer the ambitious goal of Copenhagen climate neutrality by 2025.
